Five stars for lattes, bagels, and service! I came here with 3 of my friends to talk and catch up over some lattes and brunch. We came at 11am on a saturday and found a nice table in the back. The place is really small and sort of cramped but we made it work. My friend and I each had the turkish latte and my other friends got the vanilla lattes. We all loved our drinks, they were not too sweet and not too bitter and woke me up which was what I needed. We all shared a couple bagels with cream cheese. The bagels were toasted nicely and they spread just enough cream cheese for the perfect cheese-bagel ratio. The breakfast didn't impress me, I had the Italian Sausage Scramble and it was something I could easily make at home for $2 and the plate was a whopping $9. I'd come here again but for bagels and drinks. The service was super awesome, our waitress was funny and friendly. She tooks pictures of us (we haven't seen each other in years) and was super nice about it. While we ate our breakfast she came over with a caffe caldo latte and placed it on our table and we looked at her confused and told her nobody on our table ordered that drink. And she said "really? Well it's already been made so i'll just leave it here for you guys to have". She's super awesome! We all had our fill of drinks but the gesture was just really nice. We did share that free drink in the end:)

Really cute place and the service was excellent! Ordered their breakfast, Princesa Fritatta ($7.50) and it was a generous portion. The sourdough toast they had accompanying it was addictive. You can ask for more of the balsamic sauce they drizzle on the side, as both the toast and the fritatta taste great with it! Also tried 2 different lattes. (Yes I'm wired at the moment) Vanilla Latte $3.50 - requested it with almond milk. I didn't finish this because I was more intrigued with the green tea latte. But as someone who doesn't drink coffee very much, this was appealing to me and not too sweet. Green Tea Latte $3.50 - requested it with almond milk. I'm going to try it with soy milk next time and see how I like it :) But I enjoyed this even though it needed more green tea flavor. It just didn't have that "matcha" taste. Cute latte art too! They also sell cronuts if you're still in the fad ;)

Food: - Coffee - overrated. tried the regular latte with almond milk. it was very watered down and didnt really taste like latte. the art was pretty but the taste was not so good. $3.50 for the 12oz size. - Veggie frittata - a bit burnt and runny. the egg i made at home might taste better. it took them a while (30mins) a while to make this as well.. Price: - reasonable coffee price but the quality is below average coffee houses. Service: - 5 star services. despite my disagreement with other yelpers about their coffee, i must say that the service here is great. the friendly barista and chef will help to keep some customers to come back.

the coffee here is freaking amazing like wow I've had some good coffee in my time and this tops it off. you can tell it's not cheapy coffee from your local grocery store the food was also amazing. I got the breakfast burrito (which they're known for) and since I'm a vegetarian I got it veggie style which has spinach, tomato, and zucchini. SO GOOD. the owner Richard is such a nice guy! he kept coming up to our table and giving us recommendations for the food/coffee and asked how we were doing. VERY friendly guy I would definitely recommend this place to anyone, especially if you're a coffee fanatic like me!

Cafe Caldo is a true coffee aficionado's dream. The friendliest owner and staff will brew you the best cup of coffee or coffee drink of your life. Top that off with their delicious hand-made pastries and a cozy atmosphere, and you won't want to leave. They start with the highest quality beans, and only the finest creams and milk. If you think you know good coffee, try this place and you won't go anywhere else.

The breakfast here is very good. I had the California breakfast scramble, my girlfriend had the Boss breakfast. Both were very good, lattes were great. Our sever girl wasn't the greatest she didn't bring us any salt, or Tabasco after we asked about 3 times but the manager was great. I think he compd out lattes. Good was a five star, service was a 4. I recommend you eat here!

This place was amazing! The staff was super friendly and the zebra latte was delicious! Our barista Paul was very nice! We will definitely be back next time we are in Huntington Beach.

I'm from out of town visiting and found this through yelp. We got lattes and a sandwich and can attest to not only the quality but also the great friendly service and cool decor. My buddy who lives here said this will become a regular spot for him.

Great place! Been there for coffee before (which is awesome) and finally tried breakfast. Egg, spinach, tomato, mozzarella , prosciutto & bacon omelette was perfect. Cronurs looked awesome; gonna try those next.

Absolutely the best cappuccino around Southern California! The breakfast is great too:-)

This place rocks. Great friendly service and good coffee. I try to go here as much as possible. This place got super rocked when a fricking starbucks set up shop on the corner and now you cant even see this business from the street but its such a gem. Please go here and support local small biz.

I am happy I found this little place... I love the friendly environment.... The staff is awesome and they go out of their way to make you feel welcome.... They make a great cappuccino! It's by far my favorite local coffee shop!

Coffees and breakfast are fantastic. Pastries are good, however that freekin cronut is off the chart..super friendly and low key. The latte's and designer coffee drinks are the best. You won't find anything close, anywhere close.

I've been meaning to do this review for a while now. Since I moved to HB a few weeks ago I've been coming here every weekend to sit and enjoy the delicious, Italian style, hand crafted expressinated beverages made with real love. The Paul that works there is an artist with the foam, flexible with making specialty orders, and very knowledgeable when it comes to the coffee. Everything is comparatively inexpensive there as well. This place hasn't been open for long but I think they're on to something. Going to have to get a bigger spot very soon, the only down side is it's a little tight in there and can get crazy on a nice morning.

    (5)
  • Stacy H.

Pretty decent coffee but the shop's kind of small. The greatest part is how friendly the staff is. The guys who work there and even the other costumers are super nice and talkative!

  • Anna P.

The best coffee spot ever! Paul is the best! He really makes coffee experience pleasant. I'll be a regular for sure!

  • Vivy C.

I love this coffeeshop! The Italian food is delicious, the shop has a retro feel with faux bicycles for chairs, and the coffee is wonderful. The owner, Richard, even offered us free coffee samples to compare to Portola Coffee Lab's drinks. I must say, I'm impressed. He sat with us for nearly an hour and explained his vision about the coffee shop. Plus, he is bringing in Taiwanese snow shaved ice to curb the sweet tooth. I'm going to be a regular patron! Five stars.

I'm Currently a Repeat offender of this Fine Coffee Establishment. I tell people to Drive right past the Big Green Lettered Coffee Giant on Corner and Just use that as a marker as when to Turn. At first Sight of My Breakfast Pannini my Eyes began to Leak as I gazed upon One of the most Bellisima Breakfast Sandwiches I've seen. I was brought back to Thee Old World. As The shower in my mouth was Shut down with first bite I came to conclusion that The Chef has a Heart to Please without even talking to me. Offender Yes... In a Good way.

  • Lyndsay H.

I love the coffee here, I have yet to be given anything I don't like. I'm a this is what I'm feeling make me a drink kind of girl and they've never failed to deliver. Also I love their Americano's the flavor is so rich and yummy (I will never say that about that other coffee place). All the staff is super friendly, and the prices are reasonable...I will have to try the food next!

I love this place. Really friendly staff, great food, and wonderfully coffee. I've had terrible almond milk lattes in the past, but this one was perfect. My friend got a caramel latte she described as "the best of her life." Overall, I am very impressed with Caffe Caldo. I highly recommend it.

  • Gailann H.

My experience with Caffe Caldo was one of the best, warm, welcoming experiences i have ever had. I love my new found hidden wonder of the world. The staff running this quaint gourmet coffee bar make you feel like you sitting in your nonna's kitchen. I highly recommend the cappuccino's that Jonathan makes or any of the italian dishes on the menu. I had the opportunity to celebrate Valentines Day dinner they put out a fantastic spread. Honestly, when I think of Caldo's my mouth salivates. Just one visit and you will be hooked.

Staff makes you want to spend your day there! I go every single day to get my caffeine "fix"! The chef is incredible and the coffee works miracles! Come on in and you'll probably see me there!

Great place, fresh food, and smooth coffee. Had the cappuccino after the panino caffe caldo. Hoping they keep up the good work. I will be going back.

Thought I would try a new coffee shop in town yesterday and WOW is all I can say. The Coffee and Muffins were fantastic, its always nice to find a coffee shop that doesn't burn their coffee (Starbucks). I haven't tried the breakfast menu yet but im sure its great as well. The owner and employees were all extremely friendly and helpful, Overall I would have to say this is my new favorite coffee shop in HB.

Great things come in small packages. This small cafe is filled with great hospitality that Italians are famously known for. The food is great and the coffee strong and bold. Once you step in, you feel right home and every staff (breakfast and dinner) makes you feel like you have known them forever. Great neighborhood spot that other communities would only dream about. I wish they were located close to me. Unfortunately, it is located 7hrs away but while I was there both the hospitality and food made me feel like I was from the neighborhood. I recommend that you sit at the bar or its high tables next to it. Don't be deceived by its unseemly exterior and it location within a typical plaza on Beach.

  • Lindsay M.

I can't believe it took me so long to get over here--- from the outside I assumed it was just a little hole in the wall coffee place and I don't usually get coffee outside home. Low and behold we went over for brunch. They have DELICIOUS paninis and everything else on their menu looked good and was reasonably priced. The cappuccinos were really great, and the service was so friendly. We will definitely be back!

    (5)
  • Chuck M.

The coffees, juices, desserts, breakfast and sandwiches were all amazing. Plus the service couldn't have been friendlier. I spent 10 days in Huntington Beach and went there almost everyday. I'd go back to HB just for Caldo!

This place has great coffee and a comfortable atmosphere. Johnathan the barista took care of us! We felt like we were at an ultra lounge bar at 3 am sipping our coffees and enjoying the locals who frequent this establishment!!!!!!!!! Highly recommend going early!!!!!

If you are looking for a great small coffee shop with the best cup of Joe in town, then this is your spot. They also have an amazing staff that will put Starbucks in the dust. The food is perfectly Italian and made fresh. If you have not tried this place go there today.

I needed a quick jolt of caffeine and a small bit of protein after going to my yoga class in the same plaza. The thought of going to that chain down the street (the one with 5 locations within a 1 mile radius) made me a bit nauseous (or maybe it was the yoga... nah let's blame it on the thought of bad coffee). As I stumbled into my car I saw the word "café"... oh wait never mind it said "caffe"... no idea what that was so I decided to go there and demand a caffeinated beverage! I walked into a dark and empty looking place and fixed my eyes on the menu behind the two gentlemen behind the counter. One of the gentlemen (who turned out to be the barista) offered me a menu, he also offered his assistance but was not overbearing. I scanned the menu knowing that I had no intention of getting any food and was surprised that some of the food sounded pretty good and the prices seemed to be on point. I told the gentleman I'd be sticking to a drink and ordered a latte to go, he politely asked if I wanted any syrups and I almost yelled out "no, unsweetened too". My heart started racing because I thought "oh man, why would I want syrup unless it was to mask the taste of terrible espresso" he slightly smiled and said (something along the lines of) good we have delicious tasting espresso so you'll really be able to taste it. On second thought I like that they offer syrups for those who like the idea of coffee more than the taste. As I was waiting another gentleman greeted me politely and made conversation with me and another patron at the bar (throwing that in there to show that if you feeling like having a side of conversation with your coffee they provide that at no extra charge). The barista did his thing (I don't know anything about a proper pull or foaming of milk... just that I like the taste), handed me my cup, and gave me my total. As I stood to go grab a lid and be on my way I thought I should at least take a sip... I did and it was divine... the milk was foamed perfectly and indeed the espresso was delicious (every place makes those little pictures to show that the milk is foamed "correctly" and so did this place but the consistency in my mouth sealed the deal). I'm definitely going to go back and try their food. One negative that is working against them: the store front looks uninviting... the diners seemed to be secluded to the back so from the outside it looked empty and uninviting. I peeked my head in and almost walked away. Please note: the account of my nausea is greatly exaggerated in this story. UPDATE: I went again and it was bustling! Glad to see they're doing well!

Hurt feelings reading all the fab reviews :( Poor Memorial Day morning experience... Stopped in on a bike ride to Main St. with my husband and two kids. Parked my bike, walked in with my daughter. Cashier was somewhat friendly, though in retrospect seemed a little skiddish. I didn't ask for anything unusual-a regular latte, a chai latte, two strawberry croissants, and a bagel. Gal took FOREVER punching in the order, BUT being the very friendly person I am-say absolutely nothing and wait-no problem. I pay and walk out to wait since there is zero standing room, place is packed. 10 minutes later, the older guy comes walking out annoyed as heck, calling "Hello, HELLOOooo??" I tell him my order and he hands me the drinks, asking "Did you get the rest?" and walks back in. My daughter notices how he treats her mom :( I walk in and tell the cashier I'm there for "the rest" and then she goes into this drawn out explanation about how they are still working on it and that it takes them awhile since the croissants are made fresh to order, as though I am being impatient, which I am not!? But, she's again, somewhat friendly. Weird. I eventually get my order, I have an extra croissant which I did not order but paid for ($17ish total) and two less than average coffee drinks watered down with no hint of chai. Literally, bad taste in my mouth all around...

Just back home from dinner. Best Italian food - on par with anything we've had in Italy. Same goes for their coffee....best kept secret in the OC! But not for long. Great service, good people, they care about your dining experience. And the price....4-course prie fixe for $30 per person. BYOB - no corkage. Are you kidding? Absolutely phenomenal!

Hazelnut latte with almond milk was great. Wasn't a fan of their food menu. They didn't have any healthy options during lunch time.

We come here for breakfast. Everyone here is really cool but the cook Art is the best. I like the pour over coffee which takes time but is worth the wait. Everything here is yummy and fresh. I would recommend the salmon bagel with capers. mmm mmm goood

Finally a boutique coffee and breakfast spot in HB. This town needs this!! I am a huge espresso fan and it's hard to find a spot that has great coffee.. My girl and I went there around 3pm and found out they were closing, we went to eat Nextdoor and the owner said he would stay open for us to come back and try the coffee, sure enough he did. What a great way to greet some new customers. I will deff be back to taste the frittatas and for another tasty cup of joe. Well done.

This place from what I can tell is under new management/ownership. Once known as Mr Ps Espresso is now an establishment offering Mr. Ps coffee menu, plus delicious cuisine from pastas to paninis. I use to frequent Mr Ps for their coffee beverages, but the staff wasn't all that pleasant to be around and the owner was somewhat arrogant. But my mom and I would always tell people, the coffee is so go, it's worth dealing with the arrogance. BUT! It's totally different now. The coffee is great and the new friendly staff makes the experience that much more inviting. The only down I feel is that it's small. As much as I enjoy the cuisine, the place table setup because it was a coffee house only has seating for twos or at the bar. Still, it's a nice place for me to spend some quality one-on-one time early in the morning before we start our day at the office.

Never seen someone excited about Coffee like this before. If you like good coffee, good breakfast and quite place to read on Saturday morning. This is the place

Superb espresso drinks. Silky microform on the lattes. Breakfast frittata and four-cheese omelette were fluffy, slightly cartelized, and served with a drizzle of balsamic and crisp fresh bread with a light coating of olive oil. Combined with friendly, quick service, this place is a clear winner.

I absolutely love this place. It reminds me of home (Seattle, WA), where there are many independently owned, quaint coffee shops that serve unique, quality coffee and food. Orange County doesn't seem to have many of these, which is unfortunate, but I'm glad I found Caffe Caldo! The staff is incredibly friendly there, too, which reminds me of people from Seattle. Nice to have a little piece of home here in the OC. Definitely going to make this a regular study spot whenever I'm in the area :).

I wanted to find a place where I could enjoy a nice cup of coffee and get some work done. From the outside it looked kind of bougie but my other option was sbux and I wanted to try something new. It turned out to be amazinggggg. I told Paul to whip me up his favorite two separate times and both were to die for. The quality of service was better than a lot of restaurants I go to. If I had to point out one downside it would be to please get more outlets for charging. That won't be holding me back though. Maybe I'll go again tomorrow!

Stopped in to Cafe Caldo today and got an iced latte. I love that I could get vanilla almond milk!!! The atmosphere was very comfortable and the owner was great to talk to. I'll definately be coming back to try the menu!!! Im sure i wont be disappointed!! To be continued...

Friendly service, delicious coffee, and pleasant ambience. Another plus is the easy parking. It is in a shopping strip mall so there is parking everywhere.

This place has a very vintage feel. I love it! The baristas are very friendly and know their coffee. They answer questions very well. I enjoy trying coffee from different roasting companies and many employees behind counters will have no idea which roasting company they use. However, this coffee shop definitely knew their roasting company and talked about how they are local and provided me with some good information regarding those companies. To get the original flavor of the beans, I opted for the iced americano. My friend ordered the one where they brew it for hours and is cold as well. I forgot what they called it but it was more expensive. It is very strong! My friend and I had to take turns sipping back and forth in order to drink the strong one. But all in all, the service is great! The coffee is great! I would definitely come back. I also had this Italian dessert which is layered. I forgot what this is called but it was absolutely delicious! It's a must try!

I live right near this place its a great neighborhood place. The employees are always warm and nice. The owner is always there to service you hes extremely friendly. The cofee is beyond gormet tasting and the shakra juices are delicious. The Italian food is so good. From the fritatas all the way down to a turkey sandwitch when corado the darling Italian shef asks you if you want chips or pasta salad...chips are good THE PASTA IS SUPERB. If I could bathe in and or be burried alive in that salad I would. The deserts are as scrumpcious as they look. Chocolate decidence. But all in all the service is incredible and the food is always excellent. I love it ! GO!

Caffe Caldo is a great cafe in a strip mall in Huntington. I would think that its just us locals going there. However, if you are from out of town and get sick of going to main street give this place a try. Amazing Capachino's and Latte's can be found in this little cafe. There might be a few minute wait but nothing like the shi.. show on main street.

Great experience here. .We caught it in between breakfast rushes. The dining room is not so big. Our server was very very nice and helpful. The food was fabulous. I had the scramble with ham, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach and mozzarella cheese. It was amazing! Also had a strawberry croissant to go. Also amazing. I meant to get the cronut, but ordered the wrong one. A mistake I am happy to live with. This place is a must try!

The boyfriend took me here to have a little coffee date this past Sunday. We were instantly welcomed by the owner Richard who was super friendly and helped the boyfriend come up with his order of a white chocolate latte. I on the other hand knew exactly what I wanted which was a chai tea. I like that I had the option of putting regular milk, nonfat milk, or even almond milk in my drink. We also ordered a strawberry croissant to share. The strawberry croissants are the same as those from Cream Pan so yay for all of us Huntington Beach residents who no longer have to make the drive to Tustin for this deliciousness!!! I wanted to try one of their cronuts which looked tasty in their display, but Richard told us that they had already ran out. He suggests that if you want to walk in and try to grab a cronut before they are sold out you need to come at like 9:30 or 10 AM. But he also told us that if we really want a cronut and know we're coming later in the day to call him and let him know and he would save us one. Our drinks were frothy and delicious. The boyfriend's latte had a cute little heart drawing in his foam. With every sip, the boyfriend said he felt warm fuzzies in his throat and tummy. And Richard kept us company and provided good conversation during the whole trip. Even though we weren't really ordering food, he showed us the menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner so we could know for next time. They have so many options for such a little place and it all sounded delicious. I told the boyfriend that we have to come for brunch next time. Dinner sounds like it can get a little fancy and pricy but the breakfast/lunch prices are definitely on the cheaper end. I'm excited to come back and try an actual meal with a delicious warm drink. You can tell that the owner has a lot of pride and love for this place and it definitely shows. The cafe is decorated super cute with a lot of antique lighting fixtures. The seats have cute pedals in the bottom to rest your feet and you can even adjust the lighting for your table. Awesome little touches! The ambiance, drinks, and snacks are all amazing!!!

Some really nice folks here that make delicious coffee and food. I got an iced latte and my husband ordered an iced filthy chai latte. Both were outstanding! We shared the Caffe Caldo panini and couldn't decide on what side to get, so the sweet lady gave us both! She even split the panini for us on two separate plates, each plate with both the chips and the pasta salad. Now that's service! Truly a gem here in HB. Happy to have stumbled across it and will definitely try to come more often.

I came here for a networking meetup in the morning, and my first impression was that it was very San Francisco-esque if that makes any sense. The place is definitely lively even in the morning and the workers were pretty friendly. We ended up ordering some breakfast and for the price, it's pretty good. I had the breakfast burrito and a cup of espresso, which totaled about $11-12. They were very attentive and were always asking if there was anything else we needed. Maybe it was the business attire that helped. The place is good for friends or for family members, but the seating is somewhat limited. I was unable to find a table, so we ended up on one of those miniature tables that are meant for two intimate people (I think). I'm down to come back here to try some other choices on their menu. The whole plaza is pretty lively in my opinion, and it's close to Huntington Beach.

Caffe Caldo (Hot Coffee) is "smoking" these days with all the great reviews. $hit, where have I been? I live in HB and I still had not been here until recently! CC is located in the same mall as Sealegs Wine Bar and Las Barcas on Beach & Atlanta. They offer omelets, frittatas, and pastries for La Colazione (breakfast). She ordered the almond croissant ($2), and I had the bagel con salmone ($8.50). She also ordered the blueberry tart ($2) for take out. While we were there, we enjoyed cappuccinos ($3/each) made w/ an expresso machine w/ Ferrari insignias on it: Likewise, the caffe came out caldo & veloce (hot & fast - just the way I like my women - jk - LOL!). It was so refreshing to have a cappuccino in a real ceramic cup that will stay warm to the end. In addition, the price was really good: 4 Stars. The almond croissant was very good also. It was fresh and topped w/ loads of almonds: 4 Stars. On the other hand, while the bagel looked good, the roma tomatoes overpowered the taste of the smoked salmon. Otherwise, the bagel was just OK: 3 Stars. Lastly, she ate the blueberry tart later, and really enjoyed the plump blueberries and nice crust. I found out the pastries are from Cream Pan in Tustin. Now I don't have to drive to Tustin to enjoy some of the best pastries in OC: 4 Stars. The ambiance is very quaint. There are some stools at the coffee bar, and 3 tables w/ high chairs as you walk in. There are also a few dining tables in the rear of the narrow space: 4 Stars. The service was excellent. The barista, Paul also acted as waiter and brought the bagel to the table. He was also super nice: 5 Stars. I think Caffe Caldo was only open for bfast when it originally opened. It is a nice change of pace compared to waiting in line at Sugar Shack in DTHB. I also heard they hired an Italian chef, and now they are open for lunch and dinner. I def want to come back for a nice casual meal at $10 or less, or the 3 course dinner for $30.

Spent the night out in Huntington Beach, Ca. Found this small family run business and loved it. Ordered the menudo with grano(corn) and pata(hoof). honeyMister ordered his without, just the menudo. OMGosh, we will definitely drive the hour to return for this. The honeyMister asked for "hotter" salsa than the one brought to the table. Hilariously, I watched him sweat it out and love every minute of the habanero salsa they brought. Friendly, friendly, friendly and extremely clean.

It's all about the barista here! The lattes are amazing and decorative when award winning Paul is behind the beautiful coffee bar. This place reminds me of Cheers only for coffee. Weekdays are nice and quiet but get there early on the weekends because it's a popular place.

On a recent road trip with my daughter, we discovered this great cafe. I challenged her to find an independent coffee shop each day, wherever we were. Fortunately for us my other daughter moved to OC, so we get to visit, and every visit to the area means multiple visits to Caldo...everything I've ordered has been wonderful, salmon bagel, oatmeal, croissants. And always coffee. I come to OC for family so I always look forward to a few mornings here.

Great, friendly service! Nowadays, You don't find genuine service anymore, so it was nice to see a change from the norms! Did you know that your strawberry crossiants are from cream pan?! I don't have to drive all the way to Tustin anymore!! :) Italian frittata: simple but very tasty! Lox bagel: they ran out of salmon so the owner was kind enough to run out and grab some! It was very fresh, veggies and bagel were so crisp! Loved it! I'm not a avid coffee drinker but the manfriend enjoyed their vanilla latte and macchiato. I have tried their almond cappuccino and like I said, I'm just not a fan of coffee, but the manfriend liked it! I am a tea girl and loved their rose tea! I do want to try their hazelnut lattes and frappes soon! I believe it's time to get my salmon bagel fix! Highly recommend to all! Plus, their desserts look yummy!! Enjoy! :)

Caffe Caldo is such a cute, little gem! I came here this morning for breakfast. Yes, I said breakfast, not brunch. I'm getting too old to wait around for brunch. Anyways, this place was packed and a lot smaller than I expected. They have a pretty casual system. Just find a table and seat yourself and someone will come and take your order. I got the California Veggie Scramble and I picked potatoes for my side. I also got a hazelnut latte. Even though the scramble was supposed to be the main dish, it was the potatoes that won me over. The potatoes were amazing! They were fluffy and soft and the skin was slightly crispy. They were so good! The scramble was also really good. It was good, but not amazing. I really enjoyed the hazelnut latte, too. It came out with a nice foam design. It was perfectly sweetened with just the right amount of milk. Really good. I also got to try some of my friend's breakfast burrito. Again, it was good, but not amazing. Atmosphere was busy, but cozy. I really liked the lights and the ceiling fans. They really add to the charming atmosphere. Service was good. Prices were decent. Overall, I had a great time. I'll definitely be back. Just give me a plate of those potatoes and some coffee and I'm good to go!

Cutest little coffee shop with coffee that really hits the spot. There lox bagel is also very delicious. Service is impeccable even if it's super busy. Not really an ideal place to study since it's small, but they do have outlets. There's a lot of locals that come in. There's a bar area and a back dinning area. The lights add a nice sparkle to the place.

Yummy this place feels like home. I highly suggest the strawberry croissant, turkey panini, breakfast burrito, french toast, carmel late, and their frozen yogurt with fruit. Not all at once! These are all amazing. The service here is fast and friendly. My new fav spot!!

Caffe caldo is this magical italian joint. It's so cute and tiny with the cutest decor and murals. The owner is so sweet and the food and coffee were excellent. I enjoyed the almond latte and I got a pasta, but I cannot remember the name of it. I will be back though.

This place is cool when the older, olive skinned chubby dude isn't there. Not opening or closing on time is one thing, but repeatedly doing this and blowing off several locals is bad. And breakfasts here are just horrible. Service is good when others are there and the coffee is excellent. It's a solid 2/5 if it were in a nice part of LA county (1/5 by Bay Area standards) but since it isnt, to me it is in the culinary black hole, just as pico rivera, vernon, modesto, and all of OC and by that bar it's a relative 3/5.

I took my wife here for a Sunday morning breakfast. There aren't many great breakfast spots, but Cafe Caldo is. There weren't many people there when we arrived (around 8:00), but that picked up quickly. I ordered a Salmon Bagel and Nic ordered a Croisant. The Bagal had Sushi quality salmon and the bagel was very fresh. You have to order a coffee. My wife always orders a Capiccino, the barista brought her the drink and stopped to explain the origin of the drink and how you have to have a dark ring around the froth so you get a mix of froth and espresso with every sip! He has been in competitions of Barista's East Coast vs. West Coast and came in 4th place in the Italian Barista competition. The only downside of the place is the space. It is very tiny for such a cool restaurant. We sat in the back at first, but because of noise from what sounded like the grill ventilation fan we moved to the front. The front was better, but as the crowd picked up the noise was bad there too. The decor was very nice to offset the cramped space and noise. Overall, GREAT food and Coffee, uncomfortable space. A Must visit!

Great coffee shop/breakfast place and well within walking distance of the beach. Good Food was fantastic. Lox & Bagel was excellent and included lots of salmon, plenty of cream cheese, red onions, and capers. Well worth the price of admission! Coffee was equally exceptional and high quality. Bad The location is a super small café. As in there are maybe 5 total tables available, and that's squeezing in. Best for groups 4 and below. I'd avoid if you're any more than that. tldr; Great food and perfect coffee all at a very good price. Go and you won't be disappointed.

Love this cafe and wish that we could live closer to become regular! We went for there for lunch during the 4th weekend - and love the food! All are yummy - their food are more like brunch/breakfast and we loved it. Special brewed coffee is amazing. Great service and cozy atmosphere. Definitely will be back if we are in Huntington Beach area :) Food: princess (#3), solo egg (#1), coffee & latte, crodonut (strawberry!)

This is like taking a step into a European coffee house with a California accent. Honestly, I really had a hard time believing the yelp reviews. Knowing the location and size of the restaurant it's not very big. I really didn't think it was going to impress me, since there was no outside seating, and stuffed I between a laundry mat and a Walmart. It was also also hard for me to pass up the multiple other eateries in the same plaza. However, one day it happened...and it will happen to you too! It starts like this. "I want a Cronut!" But I don't want to fly to NY city and wait 2 hours in the cold to get one. "I want coffee that tastes good and supports local roasters!, I want something like Kèan and Portola good!" "I don't want Mr. Bucks and his burnt beans." Where can I go? Clado!! Try their coffee, it's really good! Try there food, it's really good!! I would recommend eating everything prior to the Cronut. That way you don't get stuck ordering it everytime you go. This place is so convenient and friendly. It's become a weekend Italian getaway for me and family. In reading the HB Independent Newspaper: Chef Gianotti has worked for restaurants owned by big corporations most of his whole life. He was the executive chef at Tutto Mare Ristorante in Fashion Island, Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria in Downtown Disney and 21 Oceanfront in Newport Beach.

I always knew this was the place for coffe and a light breakfast.... But we experienced a fabulous dinner on Saturday night! Our four course meal left me wondering why we hadn't come here more often. All served by the chef and reminded me of home cooked meals by my grandparents. A definite 5 stars!

Great find. I enjoy a good cappuccino and Caldo has it down. Good crema, perfect foam. 1st trip it was good so I wanted to make sure it was repeatable and my 2nd trip was even better. Definately gonna be my go to. Also, smoked salmon bagel was excellent. Good Thickness of both fish and onion. Capers were just right. Good work Caldo!

California veggie omelette was super for $8ish and it came with fruits. You can opt for potatoes or toast (only sourdough that day). Friend had their toast and it was really good, I inhaled it. His wasn't supposed to come with fruits but the waitress just have him fruits because she made a mistake when she took the order - so that was nice of her. The place is kind if small but there are a couple of tables to have a sit down breakfast. They did change their menu from the frittatas that I saw on yelp but the omelette was good.

According to yelp at the time, this was the # 1 breakfast place in the area so took our in-laws for a treat. Unfortunately, service was so slow and food was ok. Coffee drinks were definitely great. Ambiance was so loud and could hear everyone else's conversations.

Love this place! - The French toast is unbelievable. It's clear the owner puts his heart and soul into providing a unique experience for his patrons - everything from the music to the ambiance/decor and friendly atmosphere is spot on. I mean they make designs with cream on top of the coffees and lattes - try asking starbucks for that (good luck). Definitely check this place out!!

I can't believe it has taken me this long to write a review. I have been coming here regularly for over a year. The service is great and Paul the barista will make you the best coffee ever. They know you by name and Richard the owner gives service with a smile. The breakfast is great , the coffee choices are amazing. If you plan to have breakfast get there early before the rush. They have awesome pastries ,baked fresh everything morning. Great friendly people I love this place!

Caffe Caldo is like a second home! We Absolutely love it there. PAUL will make you the best coffee drink of your life paired with the best smile and greeting like you are family :) Richard is always around to make sure that you are being taken care of. The food here is Uh-mazing! Beyond what you would expect from a small sweet neighborhood place. If you have not tried the coffee or food here , it is the best in town and you are missing out. The sense of community is just gravy. :)

This is a 4.5 star affair. The decor is rustic with wall mounted light switches at each table for you to control your illumination. I am here to tell you that I have a lot of empathy for the two servers working this holiday morning. I worked in food service in my youth but never as a waiter since my short-term memory "blows doors". Seriously, even in my youth it was slightly better than a Squirrel's on acid. This is a "petite" cafe which can only handle about two servers and one cook in the back. During our visit the "cattle call" of people filing in was nearly relentless. As a result, the service clearly was off today. However, our server made a point to visit our table, explain the situation, apologize and make a concession on our bill. My educational background being in journalism and public relations I clearly appreciate a business which understands how to "put out fires" (no reference to their kitchen). I hope other Yelpers will show a little kindness given these servers were clearly doing their best but were simply overwhelmed due to a crowd they were incapable of handling due to the size of their establishment. Now for the FOOD: ITALIAN FRITTATA (a.k.a. Italian Scramble) -- Italian sausage, peppers, egg etc. It is basically like an open-faced omelette. This is nicely done and I especially liked the slight char and flavor on the Italian sausage. SALAD & TWO OVER EASY EGGS -- the olive oil toasted bread looked great with the eggs on top but the wife didn't share so I can only take her word for it that it was YUM; salad with olive oil and vinegar dressing ICED COFFEE -- I mistakenly ordered an iced coffee with cream on the side and I sweetened it myself. The result was good but could've been better. So on Round Two, I let them do the work and ordered... ICED CARAMEL LATTE -- WOW! This was mildly sweet which isn't easy to do with caramel involved. It was super creamy and delicious with plenty of caramel taste without becoming a diabetic's nightmare. The coffee quality is SUPERB and only Portola Lab comes to mind in comparison. HOT VANILLA LATTE -- superior quality and taste; vanilla seems absent or super light but the latte itself was excellent (per wifey); she liked the hot latte even better as the creaminess was even more upfront CANNOLO -- this pastry is filled with ultra-smooth ricotta cheese, candied orange slices and powdered sugar is sprinkled on top. The glass display shows it with pistachio nuts packed into each end but I didn't receive the nuts today. I love a cannolo with pistachios but at least this cannolo delivered overall. The medium dark shell is pretty crisp (freshly filled). I would veto the powdered sugar next time since the filling is sweet enough on its own. There is a pronounced nutty almond taste in the cream. The cream appears to have a very slight cream cheese type taste which I like. This was an outstanding cannolo and with pistachios it would surely achieved next level status. NOTE: I've eaten hundreds of different cannoli in my lifetime and I thoroughly enjoyed this one. We will definitely be back...there is NO doubt about that.

Nice decor, lots of friendly locals and great food with nice sized portions. I'm new to the area and have tried a few other spots and this is my favorite so far. Their brewed coffee and espresso is good. If you're like me and are into portola/stumptown/intelligentsia/blue bottle style coffee and you drink it black then get an Americano poured short. It was absolutely delicious. Keep it up cafe caldo I dig your prices too!

Thanks to my yelp buddy Joe P's review, I finally came to try this place out. As much as I think Joe P is smoking something weird when he writes reviews, I think he did give a good recommendation for this place. We came here after a really fun but strenuous surf session and I was starving. We ordered a couple of sandwiches, yes, a couple! Miss Dani has to refuel. The food was delicious, not a single bad sandwich out of all the ones we ordered. The ambiance is spot-on of a cute, intimate, small Italian cafe you would find tucked away in some street corner. Service was very friendly and efficient. Bathroom is very clean, at least for the ladies. Great addition to the HB area!

My first review, totally worth it for this place! Delicious coffee and juice with friendly staff and awesome decor and ambiance. If you're looking for good coffee, delicious food, and quaint place to hangout this is the place to go. They are super friendly and take pride in their small coffee shop vibe. I was able to talk to the owner and he really puts his own touch to the place with handmade decor and high quality furnishing. Definitely recommend it! My friend and I went here for a cup of coffee and ended up with a sample of their fresh juice too. They also offer acai bowls and homemade filled cronuts on the weekend :)

We recently moved to HB from LA and were sad to leave our coffee shop...until we learned of this amazing place!! Their lattes are smooth and amazing, their french toast are the best I've had in years!!! We are so happy and most of all service is top notch!

We absolutely love this place. It's actually our Weekend Morning routine...wake up, go to Caldo, have a cappuccino and smoked salmon bagel, and just enjoy the atmosphere. Richard and his team are super friendly and the food is simply amazing. I have recommended this place to several people...I even brought my parents from Europe to try it out. My mother, a former Chef, absolutely loved the pastries, breakfast meals and cappuccino. Check this place out ASAP :)

I went in today after all the great reviews I saw on yelp. I was a bit apprehensive because the reviews mention this place is always busy and you have to wait a while. I was able to park right outside it's doors. Walking in I was greeted right away. Being my first time there I was unsure of what to order even after seeing all the great pictures on yelp. The sweet guy by the register was very patient with me and when I asked about cold coffee's he directed me to Paul. Paul was on break talking animatedly with a customer, his laugh was pretty contagious. Even though Paul was on break he not only told me about the different cold drinks they had but explained what was in them and how they were made. He guided me in choosing something that I would like. The beautiful girl making the drinks was super friendly as well. We both share a dislike of Starbucks. Lol If my experience today is any indication of the everyday service they provide, then Cafe Caldo is my new favorite place. Paul and the other two people I interacted there with were very welcoming, I wish I had gotten all their names. Honestly, I have never felt more welcomed and had such good service. The guy behind the counter who took my order asked me how my day was and Paul starting talking to me about different coffee places he's worked at. It was so inviting, I hated having to leave. Although it took me 25 mns to get there, I would go back just for the pleasure of interacting with the people working there even if the food/drink were not so good. Thank God the drinks and the food were delicious!!! I will definitely be going back.Thank you guys for being so sweet and brightening my weekend.

If you're looking for great coffee this is the place to go. We were staying at the Hyatt Regency 0.5 a mile away and wanted to find a place for breakfast locally. I agree with most of the comments on here. The coffee is delicious, the staff friendly and the food tasty. The atmosphere and surroundings are such that if you didn't look out of the window you would think you were sitting in a little cafe in Italy. We liked it so much we went back all three days we stayed. Recommendations - The oatmeal bar, Eggs, coffee, coffee, coffee.

Me and my buddy decided to come eat here for brunch the other day because of the great yelp reviews they have. We both ordered the breakfast burrito and it was delicious! We also got the Iced black Irish coffee, and Wow! it tasted so much better than Starbucks! We really liked the employees that was taking our orders, it was an man and a lady. They were so polite and wonderful! I don't know if its a family business or just a regular restaurant. whatever it is they're doing a great job! I am definitely coming back here..

Three stars for the super sweet barista who took the time to explain to us what drinks they offer that aren't on the menu, suggesting things that I would like knowing I usually prefer vanilla lattés. I took off two stars because of the price - I understand quality crafted espresso drinks are at least $4-$5 a pop, but I just felt like I could have gotten something bigger and just as good for that price elsewhere. Ambience is huge to me - I always feel as if I'm paying for coffee and an experience. The place is small and cozy, but was dead empty when we went. There's no cute patio because of the center it's in - right next door to Big Lots. They put a cute table outside but I wouldn't meet a friend for coffee here.

I heard about this place many times from my friend. I finally stop by. Me being a coffee lover myself, I have of course become a gold card member at Starbucks. But every since I came to Caffe Caldo. I haven't stepped into one Starbucks. The people here treat you like family. They didn't even know my name, but yet I feel like I've known them forever. The food here is spectacular. And the coffee is on another level. Even if you don't like coffee, get one. You will fall in love with the art made by the baristas. I could go on and on. Just take my word for it. And stop by.

Best breakfast I've ever had. Everything is freshly cooked in exceptional. It's a little local hang out but they make you feel very welcome. If you were in the Huntington Beach you have to stop I hear anything. We only waited about five minutes, but if the wait is longer the next time we come here I will wait. Everyone was so friendly and the food is AMAZING !!!! Worth five stars !!!! Thanks you guys for making a lost couple feel at home. We will be back.

The coffee here is delicious and the customer service here is the best. Very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. They also do fun classes like wine night and cooking classes which I will have to check out soon! The place is hidden in the middle of the shopping center next to Big Lots (ick).

Came for a quick bite and it was awesome. On weekends they do a Regional menu which you can order from or order as a complete four course dinner that is very reasonably priced. My fiancé and I split an a la carte order of ravioli and each had a cappuccino. The ravioli is amazing and the sauce great too. The cappuccino was awesome and this from someone who really has to be in the mood for coffee products. When we entered I noticed a tiramisu taunting me from the chilled display case. Of course we split one order. It was amazing. Made by the staff it was tender and balanced and awesome. I would give this place six stars if I could. *this is a small place so make reservations or arrive early.

First impression is that this little whole in the wall might be to crowded to eat but please do yourself a favor and walk in and experience the kindest most helpful and happy people. 5 stars for great service and for great homemade food. I was impressed and can't stress that enough. Thank you for a great experience!

I visited Caffe Caldo a few weeks back and am looking forward to going back. It was my first time there and I wanted to try a different coffee shop to catch up on some emails; usually I'll go to other places but I was feeling adventurous. After searching up places with free Wi-Fi on Yelp, all signs pointed towards here. It's a small place that has a very welcoming vibe. The staff there were very attentive and extremely friendly; almost felt like a regular there even though it was my first visit. I ordered my drink and noticed they had breakfast there too so I decided to give that a shot. I wish I could remember which omelette it was but man it was great. Also, the cool thing is that when you receive your coffee drink, they decorate the foam which I thought was awesome. Definitely a place I would come back to.

I call this place trailer park eclectic. I'm sure 85% of their patrons are from the local mobile home park. On top of that the food is expensive and the service is slow. If you are 50+ and live in a mobile home you will love this place.

I go to this place every Wednesday that I can (since it's usually my day off) with my aunt and we LOOVVVEEE it. Let me just put it this way. I drive almost an hour down beach blvd to get here. I wake up earlier... (On my days off) ... than I normally do for work because this place is that good. We usually get the caffe caldo latte (totally delicious and adorable) and the Two Eggs breakfast that comes with a great salad. I also tried the Boss Platter one time when I was feeling bossy ;) which was so good! The best French toast I've had in a long time! The staff here is always friendly, polite, attentive and helpful.

I have the choice to visit Starbucks which is right across the street, but I don't! Caffe Caldo has a unique, non-franchise feel and I Love that! Their desserts and food have an individual flare and, of course, are very DeLish! Oh and did I mention that they serve Kean coffee. Their Turkish Latte is awesome sauce!! And yes, they half almond milk! Go away, Starbucks.....

    (5)
  • Kayla H.

Best almond milk hazelnut white chocolate latte EVER!! although it's the only one I've had since nobody else offers it... The staff is beyond friendly and will actually teach you how to drink your coffee. I can't believe I had never been here before! I live down the street and have unfortunately been wasting my time and money driving past this place and to the nearest Starbucks. I'll for sure be making this my go-to coffee shop. Can't wait to try more things on the menu!

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
